Orono's Claire Berrett Flip Flops During City Meetings leaving a trail of odd and confusing rhetoric

Oh dear. Poor Ms. #ClaireBerrett (or Barrett as some city records show) seems to be having a big identity crisis doesn’t she?

First, she used profanity in the Chambers along with mean spirited social media postings as a constituent; to then become a faux gardener; onto becoming a possibly illegal “empty chair” hostess; to former Mayor Walsh’s unpopular appointee as an apparently pretend civil servant. Why pretend? Because she was not voted in and doesn’t seem to represent anyone but #denniswalsh and his cohorts.

During a work session and recent City Council meeting she threatened a lawsuit against the city repeatedly. Maneuvering to side step her own responsibility and accountability, she claimed it’s being brought by former Mayor Denny Walsh. Seems a bit “damsel in distress” doesn’t it?

Why, oh why, would Berrett incriminate herself in this manner? What is her relationship with #dennywalsh? How will her own Conflict of Interest be managed when she doesn’t appear to understand the terms plaintiff and defendant? All great questions yet to be answered.

Things could not get stranger than a sitting Council member trying so desperately to hang onto her appointment - unless of course our illustrious former Mayor #overspendydenny Walsh is footing the effort. “Desperado” is playing loud and clear while all these time-suck logistics wind through our municipal offices. Doesn’t this look like another power grab by “you know who” to keep the attention on himself and not the Citizens?

And why didn’t #spendydenny read his nonsensical legal threat letter himself? Why does he keep sending Rich Anderson to City meetings? Is Walsh afraid to come to chambers?

So here we are. A flip flopper and her apparently unscrupulous friend are trying to stop Orono from due process for the Citizens. This situation should make for an interesting special election. Will Berrett try to sanitize her unsavory past to make a legitimate run for office?

Outgoing Orono Mayor Dennis Walsh appointed a known social media bully to fill Matt Johnson’s open City Council seat Monday, November 25, 2024. Walsh did this despite the Citizen’s vocal outrage during the meeting.

This meeting is particularly poignant for the following reasons:

1) Clearly Walsh, Crosby and Berrett ignored Citizens before and during the meeting. Veach started to stand up for Citizens, and then made a huge backslide during the Mayor/Council report.

2) Berrett disrespected the incoming Mayor repeatedly by mispronouncing his name.

3) Berrett already started speaking of her vast experience without disclosing her utter disdain for nonpartisan policy.

4) Berrett did not fully disclose her outright anger and ongoing smear campaign against Orono Citizenry.

5) Berrett covered up the fact that she has repeatedly disparaged a fellow Orono City Council member and other public officials.

Now we expect this type of vindictive behavior out of Walsh and Crosby because that is how they have operated for years. No surprise they chose someone that is equally as aggressive if not even more so.

For that ray of sunshine, listen to incoming Mayor Mr. Bob Tunheim speak at minute 1:27:55. Not only has he done his homework, he gives the Citizens hope they have been heard.
