Why is OFD parked in Long Lake? 12 minute drive from Navarre?

What is happening during the day with the Orono Fire Department?

Why are they parked in Long Lake? Isn’t their coverage over in Navarre? That’s a good 12-15 minute drive.

More importantly, what is happening while you Sleep Navarre?

Again, your fire trucks are parked over near Orono High School in the Old Public Works Building just between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. This is at least a 12 minute drive over to Navarre after the fire fighters reach the station.

Does this sound unsafe? Sure, and let’s understand how poor leadership got us here:

#MayorWalsh and his own unsafe short term planning are costing taxpayers $47+ million dollars on just the duplicate fire service. Why haven’t you presented the maintenance budget? Or an overall budget?

#CouncilmemberMariaVeach and her backdoor negotiating whose own conflict of interest coordination is paying her family from the allocated $47 million dollars. Why haven’t you recused yourself?

#ChiefVanEyll and with his partial and misleading analysis who is also being paid by these outrageously high funds. This budget is many times over any standard industry norm. How can you charge $11,885 per call without saying something to the Citizens?

Not one of these public officials is working toward what is best for Orono including Navarre and our Citizens. Charging us 7X more per call - from $1617 to $11,885 for possibly unsafe service is simply irresponsible and fiscally reprehensible.

What is best for Orono?

#oronoproud is safe service

#oronostrong is fiscal solvency
