You’ve been invited to break ground on the most expensive project in Orono’s history without a single informational session, open house or public hearing about the project details.

City of Orono Mayor #DennyWalsh is inviting all citizens to the April 10th groundbreaking heralding the largest taxpayer debt Orono has ever seen via newsletter snail mail. This is the reason why Orono’s tax levy went 20% for this year.

Never heard of Orono Public Works Building aka the “Taj Mahal” of public works? Well, that’s because there hasn’t been a community wide, public presentation of the project details even though they started earthworks last year.

So grab a shovel and break ground on a building you are handsomely paying for over the next several decades including $5 million in interest costs. If you feel this is a backward process, please share this post and ask for an open public meeting for all citizens!
