Can Orono Maintain Their Own Parks?

Let's ask the City of Orono how they are going to maintain our Parks and how much that is going to cost? Once again, poor @BederwoodPark is subject to someone ripping up the turf by riding through the entire park on a motorized vehicle.

Why is Orono building more amenities when they haven't put forth a plan for tree maintenance, invasive species or even upkeep of the park features we already have?

Who is maintaining Orono Parks?

Sadly, many of Orono Parks are in a degraded state because all these Park features take maintenance and upkeep. Bederwood Park is just one example. Many of the turf areas are mud, the park lot has been spray painted and the retention pond and lip by the Porta Potty are makeshift bike jumps.

Hackberry Park Slated for Development

Orono’s Hackberry Park is now slated for development without citizen input. Once again, the City of Orono is spending funds to design what they want in their park without asking citizens what they’d like to see. This is the fifth park in two years to have developments implemented without citizen engagement. Add Lowry Woods Nature Conservation Area, Summit Beach, Bederwood Park and the Orono Golf Course to that list.
