The Deal is On the Table Orono City Council!

Long Lake is offering Orono more control of the Existing Fire Department. The city of Long Lake is offering to create a new governance board for the existing fire department. Orono began exploring this idea until Mayor Walsh stopped the negotiations.

Right now the negotiations are in limbo dependent on court-ordered mediation because of Orono’s lack of cooperation.

Stopping negotiations and building a go-it-alone Fire Department will cost the Citizens of Orono millions of dollars. Not only would the City have to get all new equipment and a new station, Orono will also have to recruit all new fire firefighters with little to no experience working together.

Please come to Orono City Council meetings to have your voices heard on the public record. Please watch the recent Coffee with the Mayor meeting here on our Youtube Channel https://youtu.be/Rcu8c23X8qg
